Participants: GRG Intelligent, Bank of China Shenzhen Branch, Shenzhen Metro

Overview of the Event:
Through joint research and development by GRG Intelligent, Bank of China Shenzhen Branch, and Shenzhen Metro, the small-scale application of the digital RMB hardware wallet for offline and power-free payment in the metro scenario has been successfully implemented, marking the birth of the nation’s first “dual-channel mode” for hardware wallets in rail transit.

Application Scenario:
In recent years, with the continuous expansion of the digital RMB pilot scope and the increasing diversity of application scenarios, Shenzhen, as the core engine of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, has leveraged technological innovation to provide a more convenient digital RMB hardware wallet consumption and travel closed-loop ecosystem for foreign visitors, further promoting international exchange and cooperation.

Pilot Stations:
The “dual-channel mode” for hardware wallets has been first launched at Hong’anwei Station, Yantianxu Station, Dameisha Station, and Xiaomeisha Station on Shenzhen Metro Line 8. Invited customers can easily complete payment and ride the metro by simply swiping their digital RMB hardware wallets at the gates.

Passenger Feedback:
According to Shenzhen Metro operation personnel, this new payment method is convenient and fast, providing passengers with a more superior travel experience.

Technical Solution:
Under the guidance of the Digital Currency Research Institute of the People’s Bank of China, the project follows the latest specifications for digital RMB hardware wallets in the rail transit industry and premieres a dual-mode solution of “intelligent locking + delayed deduction” nationwide. This solution not only ensures the security and accuracy of payments but also significantly improves payment efficiency, setting a new benchmark for the promotion of digital RMB in small-value and high-frequency rail transit scenarios.

Other Efforts in Building the Digital RMB Ecosystem:
GRG Intelligent has assisted China Construction Bank Guangzhou Branch in creating a “digital RMB + tram” scenario, won the bid for the digital RMB travel modification project for Guangzhou Metro, and launched the digital RMB payment function on the Shenzhen Metro internet payment platform, providing strong application support for achieving full-form, full-channel, and full-scenario coverage of digital RMB in the public transport sector.
